In the rules department, you can look at http://www.4chan.org/rules - all global and board specific rules are in full effect. Apart from that, only two rules are important.
1. BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER. 2. PARTY ON, DUDES. (AND DUDETTES)

>>92803833 Tales of Aria mixed with Uprising style pack structure. The card pool has a power spike that raises up from Heavy Hitters, which was obviously the mindless brutes and fighters duking it out for glory and money. Equally amplified is the complexity, as these characters have a very interesting way of shifting the import of the game onto a color generally reserved as the best for pitching to create resources rather than relying on their prowess. The Heroes are a nice take on classic existing archetypes that are just explored further. What if an assassin that could heal and eliminate blocking cards? What if an illusionist but blue and they like auras for a different reason. What if a ninja that actually makes tigers a core strategy? All of these existed in one way or another before, but not for these roles and these interactions with blue strip cards. The Chi mechanic is a double edged sword, as you're basically playing with a bunch of 1 of a kind cards, complete with barely noticeable effects that all add up to a torrent of incremental advantage and allow you to spill over the top with a dazzling finisher (mid to late game, maybe). The only problem is that the later the game drags on, the more cards in your hand that are literally only useful as resource cards, and nothing else. Apart from that the limited environment has yet to show its true nature. However, considering that everyone is cracking 8 packs now instead of the usual 6, there's a higher chance for majestics to show up as well as extra copies of key commons and rares. I think this makes it the most competent sealed environment yet, with three heroes all sharing a same talent and getting to make use of blue cards to make the entire pool more valuable than it has been to previous sets. Prerelease is going to be wild and I can't wait to try out all the heroes.
why are "dungeons" (not in the literal sense, but as "confined spaces where flow of the game changes from freeform/narrative form to structured form") in rpg sources so spacious and convenient to navigate? there is a complete disregard of visibility , crawling, squeezing, swimming, slipping, temperature , attrition, hunger, thirst, elevation, disorientation, etc. Everything is too comfortable. Do you like your dungeons consisting of a bunch of comfortable flat corridors with ideal space to stand and swing weapons?
>there is a complete disregard of visibility , crawling, squeezing, swimming, slipping, temperature , attrition, hunger, thirst, elevation, disorientation, etc Have you tried actually playing D&D? Because every edition of D&D does all or most of that. >>92795698 >>92795702 Good dungeons.
>>92801377 With DC 30 Escape Artist checks that are an "eventually" on a modest +10, it's very much possible to fit a properly trained Large creature through a Small space. Much to the chagrin of any Kobolds trying to optimize a tunnel layout.
It's not remotely standard, but as always there are startlingly few situations that CANNOT happen in 3.5.

Welcome to Mecha Monday! Here we dedicate ourselves to mecha RPGs, war games, and board games alike. Here we start games, tell campaign stories, share resources & assets, and seek advice for our games and homebrew.
Heavy Gear 4e is now officially out: https://legacy.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/457450
>>92784415 MDC could of been done better in either of two ways 1) it’s just SDC but you need to exceed the total in one attack otherwise it resists it all. 2) it represents SDC x 10
>>92803064 I remember when they didn't even have mecha RPG generals.
ALso, for Heavy Gear, I am wondering how plausible it would be for a Black Talon captain to recruit a crew of brilliant but flawed people from death row, maximum security prisons and whatnot in order to fill out a roster of extremely bad people who want to do even worse things to the CEF and all their friends.
>>92803943 This is entirely plausible, and pretty much actually happened when the Talons nabbed a bunch of Legion Noire pilots from the losing side of the Southern Civil War who were going to be executed otherwise
>>92803633 >>92803703 Why do "you" have to be in the bag or out of the bag? Why can't "your head" be out and "your body" be in? What happens when you pull an object out? Does it spontaneously pop into existence, full weight and size and all? Or does it come out bit by bit as you pull it out? If it popped into existence, how could you ever pull something larger than the bag out, like a polearm? Wouldn't it pop into existence the moment you put your hand on it and try to take up the same space as the bag? Yes I have autism.
>>92804021 Yes. And inside is between 30 and 250 cubic feet of space. Is he dangling in the air entirely on his forearm strength on the edge of the bag? Is he standing on something in the bag? Does he have enough shit piled up that he can sit on something in the bag?

>>92804019 if you're going to be a boring faggot feigning outrage over GW ripping something off you could at least pick something besides the half life headcrab which is literally a dressed chicken carcass
Post storylines you plan to rip off for your campaigns >Who Is the Hobgoblin style mystery villain with loads of red herrings and false reveals and decoys >Charlie Weiderman Molten Man style villain where a gifted nerd is pushed too far and becomes a serious threat instead of learning great power great responsibility >All This and Gargantua 2 event where a usurper attempts to clean house and overthrow the villain organization with the heroes stuck in the crossfire >Thunderbolts type story where the government tries to make their own super team out of "reformed" villains >The Alien Costume style revelation where we find out one character's powers are actually coming from something else (and that something else goes on to become a HUGE problem for the heroes)
>>92800548 >>92800736 >>92800800 >>92802183 The pun method also works for making heroes! >Chemeleon: chemistry student attempting to crack the secret to transmutational alchemy is transformed into a lizard girl in a lab accident, gains the ability to alter the chemical properties of anything she touches like an inverse Absorbing Man crossed with a bit of Gambit >Pistol Shrimp: marine biologist who develops a shrink suit so that he can more closely study algae and oceanic microbiomes, ends up fighting eco-terrorists and pirates using gauntlets that fire targeted shock waves >Kayfabe: pro wrestler with illusion powers (catchphrase is "YOU CAN'T BREAK KAYFABE!") >Praying Mantis: a kindly priest who was bitten by a radioactive mantis and transformed into a monstrous bug creature; rather than despairing and turning to a life of villainy, he finds solace in his faith and defends the innocent >Radical: a radioactive extreme sports enthusiast, uses outdated slang, is a notorious corporate shill/sell-out >Judge, Jury, and Executioner: trio of humorless lawful-good heroes, Judge is the leader and wields a mighty gavel, Jury can create up to 12 copies of himself, Executioner is a silent masked brute with electric powers It's fun making superheroes/villains and just populating the world with them, imagining all the spotlight episodes where they get introduced and have a little adventure with the party.
>>92796212 We're giving a new supers setting layer for Genesys a try. Well, it's not new new, but we just found it so it's new to us. The rules are a bit...iffy, if you go all in on super strength you can do 20 damage unarmed, with Crit 1, and Breach 5. And defenses do not keep pace, it's hard to not be a glass cannon. But, we'll see how it goes, and if it fails maybe I can drag these fools back to M&M.
>>92802758 >Praying Mantis: a kindly priest who was bitten by a radioactive mantis and transformed into a monstrous bug creature; rather than despairing and turning to a life of villainy, he finds solace in his faith and defends the innocent
>>92804022 We generally have those types of things segmented based on time. Problem is that something like that isn't really feasible. I've brought up the idea in previous threads of using a DP system similar to Duelist of the Roses by pooling statistics from Master Duel, but that would require Konami to invest time into that sort of thing (unless there's an accessible API to fetch that information ourselves). The basic result would be a smogon-type system on a card-by-card basis.
>>92804092 >Problem is that something like that isn't really feasible * as in, something like you're describing, not the Time Wizard system we have in place.

>>92803981 It is in an iconic character that they can't print the original card due to RL. Also the art looks like new. Also they like printing those throwback characters in MH sets.
https://www.dicebreaker.com/games/final-fantasy-xiv-ttrpg/news/final-fantasy-14-trpg-reprint-after-selling-out >Final Fantasy 14’s tabletop RPG hasn’t even been released yet, but it’s already being reprinted after selling out I guess that's a niche filled.
>>92795450 No clue how AOEs work but there are markers that are placed down like in the MMO and I assume you have a turn to get out of the way or whatever
Attacks/abilities all have a base effect that always works, an affect you roll a d20 for against the target defense/magic def, and a crit that doubles damage dice. So in a way you never miss, you just miss damage but get whatever benefit
HP/MP auto fills between battles and TPKs reset the encounter, just like the MMO
