Has drawing with any of your artist friends rubbed off on you?
>>7167462I’ll be your friend
ye, it got me into art to begin with. Was like 8 years old, every time we meet up we just draw together. Fast forward 20 years and still doing that from time to time. They didn't improve to much, but it helps to inspire each other. Iscribble used to be a thing for me too where I met short term friends to draw with. Kinda just feels nice to draw in an environment to draw with someone else, rl or online.
>>7165439
>>7167462Anon If you are willing to make love with me, I might become your friend. The others are fake because they don't ask for anything in exchange. I'm a real friend.
no I haven’t rubbed of on my art friends why would you ask me that
>There is one thing not to do, and that is simply to drift along with the daily routine, making no extra effort. You will soon find yourself middle-aged, having done nothing more than routine jobs, and being little farther along than you were years ago. The extra effort is the difference between the great mass of mediocre artists and the comparatively small group of very good ones.>And in Art, study can never stop. You will find sketches galore in the studio of the good man, with the paint quite fresh. The mediocre artist's sketches are old and dusty.>I have seen so many middle-aged artists still hoping, whose samples are frayed at the edges, and thumb-marked with time. Sometimes it has been a matter of years since they sat down and actually did something to give their hopes any promise. They are plodding their lives away at something they hate, and doing nothing about it. These are the men who never seem to have had a chance. The truth is, they never seized a chance.- Andrew Loomis, Creative Illustration/Studies/ General is all about improving your art and never settling for mediocrity. >>7165550>I like your brush strokes and how they make the whole picture>For whatever reason I always go for the biggest brush possibleIt's funny because clear shapes and stroke efficiency are exactly the things I lack and I like ur work for. The grass is always greener on the other side I guess?>Do you have any other work to shareMy output entirely depends on how I feel on a given day so I don't think I have anything exactly like this, but here's my small gallery, maybe you'll find anything interesting there https://dad.gallery/users/5364
Anyway, for some reason I thought I could make a study of a photo, 3pic, but in the end it turned out to be complete shit, so I gave up halfway through. Both colour and texture got me completely lost, so yeah, it looks like meh. Gonna live with this shame forever. Some days I just can't see colours, shapes, proportions and so on. Not like I can on better days though.>>7165841Looks like your output is great, just as your level. And so it is your picture in OP.
Here's a command you can run to pull URLs for a bunch of master art if you've got a Linux/UNIX based bash shell. Haven't posted in this thread before. I've been posting in /beg/ for a few months. Been drawing since late September last year, have made lots of progress but am struggling with consistency and need to seriously sort my sleep routine out as it's affecting my ability to draw. Have been trying to get into a routine of doing figure studies, but so far I struggle to do one and here is what I have done today. ( I have had a few days where I did multiple, but I tend to get impatient so my quality suffers). I still seriously struggle with drawing toes, fingers are getting easier but still look quite poor. I can't seem to consistently apply what I learn to things (sometimes I'll draw fingers as cylinders, other times just outlining them like I did here), and on some days it feels like my skills decline a lot, while on other days they feel better. I dunno if that's just what happens when you're learning at first, as you haven't fully developed your technique so inconsistencies will occur for a long while at first.
Plattforms all over the Internet have been hardcore clamping down on fictional content depicting sex. This is even more so the case for stuff that shows loli, shota, rape, etc.Isn't it fair for these people in particular to prompt their hearts out, considering their art niche is getting severely hampered by politics? There is little money to be made in these things, anyway. It will allow consumers to get more art in the face of an upcoming artist drought due to professionals having to quit their NSFW careers. If most (professional) people will just quit drawing loli or can't draw it for money to begin with, then it only makes sense that they should prompt.

>What's a webtoon?Webtoon is the ancient Korean art of scrolling comics. Instead of traditional manga/comic pages, panels are spread out individually for easier reading on cell phones.>So they're just spliced manga/comic pages? You can do that if you want, but they're fundamentally different for a few reasons. For example, panels tend to be drawn longer to fit phone screens, and traditional 2-page spreads are not possible to fit in scrolling format.>Are there standard page sizes?Technically yes, but it depends on which platform you post in. Naver Webtoons uses800x1280px, but the site automatically splices & resizes images anyway.>Do I have to make it in color? If you want subscribers, yes.>Why would I make one?To be rich & famous, of course. All jokes aside, the pay is low if you're lucky enough to get hired in the first place, the deadlines are more brutal than the manga industry, and the average reader age floats around 11. But as a novel medium with a growing industry, it may still be worthwhile enough for you to experiment.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>7167349Aslong as you haven’t established much of the story I think it’s fine, but if you have then I think it would just take people out of it and become distracting if you changed it.

>>7167762I'm 4 episodes deep so far, working on the 5th. It's my first webcomic so I'm not too worried about it looking a little off. I just wanna figure out what's gonna be effective. Tops how it looks now. Bottom is the brush I was thinking of switching to for the lineart. It's easier to work with but I'm also still attached to the fuzzy pencil brush despite realizing how hard it is to work with.
>>7167349>>7167837if it makes it easier for you then that's all that really matters. the line art change is minor but honestly as long as you're not drastically changing your entire art style then nobody's going to care what changes you make, and they especially won't care on a site like webtoons where most people just want something to read regardless of its quality because its all free anyway.
>>7167850Thanks anon, I might play around with it on this next chapter to see if it streamlines the process a bit. Worse comes to worse I switch back, not like I have a ton of readers anyway

old women who cant draw/color but consider themselves artists like doing these
The worst thing about these is bad line:white space ratio. Hideous little drawings, not suitable. It's like adults are so insecure about being perceived as kids, they become retarded and worse than them. Even a dumb little kid understands more white space = more colors. But no, "adults" have to senselessly complicate a simple thing to make it feel like it's a different thing from what little Emily is doing.

>>7165047artwork is excellent. dialogue too. pacing could use work. felt tough to get grounded in the setting
>>7167256>So, you didn't read it whole?I jumped around a bit, but the writing is really jarring. There are some bits here and there that just don't make ANY sense at all.I get the feeling too that you're sort of aping a lot of manga and anime that you really like, without actually understanding what they're saying and why. You also have a lot of dialogue that's just superfluous, and sometimes a character will say the same thing in three or four different ways in the same panel.>Could you tell where, i would like to see what i could doPic related is probably one of your most readable pages, at least out of the first few. I mean, I get the gist of what's going on, but the there are some little dialogue bits that I just don't understand. This page, however, despite some minor errors, is pretty easy to follow. Its actually kinda funny too. Probably one of your most well written pages. However, on the page prior to this, in the bottom row of three panels, you have the dialogue:>"I know that if you were smart, you'd be scared too.">"You know I can hear you, right?">"Yeah, but what does work for!!!"Comment too long. This is one of the few fanarts of relatively popular franchises I've done.
I've been doing a lot of Mario-related fanarts, they have served me for good practice as fanarts tend to age faster than OC works. I also noticed a very bad issue in my head construction method that is present is at least all pieces minus one. These have also served me well in social media, which is nice.

>>7167824I disagree
Which artists do you think transcended the commercial art they started in to become extremely respected fine artists? Frazetta and probably Moebius are examples in the comic book industry. Leyendecker and Rockwell for illustration. Sydney Mead for concept art.My working dilettante theory, is that there is commercial art (which includes coom) and fine art. Any thing that is not in either category is banal and not worth your time.
>>7165399Hmmm ok but pyw then
>>7165398Richard Corben, Will Eisner, George Herriman, Jack Kirby, Sam Kieth, Winsor McCay, Dave Sim, Wallace Wood, Alex Toth, Basil Wolverton, Bernie WrightsonIn manga: Osamu Tezuka, Ino Asano, Kazuo Umezu, Junji Ito, Shigeru Mizuki, and way too many others to mention (in Japan manga is more respected as an artform, so the lines blur)Also underground/alt cartoonists like Crumb, Dan Clowes, Charles Burns, Chris Ware, Jim Woodring ... though the point there was to make comics as uncompromising art in the first place.
>>7165398I don't know about "extremely respected", but Simon Stålenhag has certainly been quite succesful. His subject matter makes you associate his work with commercial illustration, but most of his landscapes where done without a client. I 'd say his approach is closer to fine art than pure illustration, even though he has done that as well.
>>7167802He lost respect from me when he got uppity about a game being(possibly) inspired by his paintings. A game in made in sweden, set in sweden, with robots, also riding the 80s nostalgia revival. like he had a monopoly on the idea
>>7165398>commercial art they started in to become extremely respected fine artists?James Jean is a literal example, went from being a commercial illustrator/comic cover artist to being shown in galleries and collected by filthy rich collectors (I remember reading movie stars have his work hanging on their wall)
